Our Mission
The New Jersey Wolfpack is dedicated to the goals of teaching the life
lessons players learn through the game of basketball and preparing young
student athletes for High School and College play. Our experienced,
dedicated coaches and instructors use practices and games to provide an
intense focus on fundamentals and conditioning, and to emphasize the
lessons of integrity, dedication, commitment, work ethic, teamwork,
leadership and self knowledge that can be taught in our gyms. Our
players will become high performing and contributing members of their
communities, on and off of the court.
Our Program
The New Jersey Wolfpack was formed in 2002 as a program within the
Wayne PAL to provide spring & summer basketball to the children of Wayne
and neighboring towns, however evolved over the past 6 years to become a
regionally and nationally competitive basketball program for exceptional
student athletes from northern New Jersey. The program was founded by
Jim Stone and Dan Halewicz, coaches from the Wayne PAL programs. The New
Jersey Wolfpack continues to assemble a group of coaches and other
professionals/instructors committed to enriching the lives of the Wolfpack players. The coaching staff possesses extensive experience as
both players and coaches, and each has enjoyed a great deal of success
in those roles. An intense focus on fundamentals and conditioning is the
hallmark of the Wolfpack program. Wolfpack players are expected to
master the mental aspects of the game, including the discipline to focus
on the details of the individual and team fundamentals they are taught.
The Wolfpack coaches have developed a good reputation in AAU recruiting
venues, and are committed to preparing their teams to perform on that
stage. Players get exposure to college recruiters over a period of
years, culminating in their 17 & Under season. Playing in national
venues throughout their Wolfpack experience, players become well
prepared to display their talents during the important spring and summer
College Evaluation Periods. All of that said, for the Wolfpack, its
first and foremost about the basketball. A player's self discovery is
paramount in the priorities of the coaches. The lessons in integrity,
dedication, commitment, work ethic, teamwork, and leadership that are
available in the game are transferable to all aspects of life outside
the gym. Current and past Wolfpack players are now attending and
playing at high schools including DePaul Catholic, Newark Academy, Don Bosco Prep,
Bergen Catholic, Becton Regional, Manchester Regional, Paterson Kennedy,
Passaic County Tech, Tappan Zee, Paramus Catholic, Paterson Catholic,
Wayne Hills, Wayne Valley, Passaic Valley, Lakeland Regional, Mendham, Kinnelon, West Milford and
Nutley. With the class of 2009, former Wolfpack players will be
playing at Montclair State University and Kean University next season. |
